Pornstar Plague (or Save the Pornstars)

A pornstar epidemic has many fearing for their jobs not to mention their lives. Approximately 60 of them. All of whom have come in contact (sexually) with two testing positive for HIV.

"About 200 producers take in billions of dollars making thousands of adult movies each year. Many involve unprotected sex, and more than 60 performers who had contact with the two infected actors have been barred by the industry from working until their next blood tests are complete. Some companies have temporarily halted production." -CNN.com

HIV could be better named "a plague to the sexually immoral". So it seems. Could it be possible for HIV to bring ruin to the porn industry? Interesting to think about, yet unlikely as more "performers" would replace the infected. It is odd that there is such a disease that tends to target only those with mutiple partners or those unfortunate enough to come in contact with them. One may believe that this is not coincidental. Poor pornstars... who could have seen that coming.

That would be an overreaction, [In response to the idea of mandating the use of condoms] said Kat Sunlove, executive director of the Free Speech Coalition, a trade association for the adult entertainment industry. "Do we really want condom police?" she asked. "We've had two, count them two, positives in five years."

How hard is it to use condoms? I mean really, turn off the camera and put one on. Sunlove makes it sound like a huge problem for porn. We can see where the porn industry's priority stands. On the BILLION$ made. They can afford the loss of those two "performers" and obviously are not making an attemp to prevent more losses. There are roughy 60 more possible cases and "condom police" are out of the question? Maybe priorities need some changing. Seems oddly familiar ... oh yes ... the tobbacco industry. They lose customers to lung cancer daily, yet they can all be replaced.

If I were a pornstar ... excuse me "performer", (gladly I am not) I would be a little upset. We should be seeing a strike by now; picket signs reading "Porn industry = HIV! Compensation or my clothes stay on!", while passersby keep to the other side of the street from fear of themselves becoming infected. Although, I am sure they have to sign some sort of waiver making sure they are fully aware of the risks.

Well that's all ... I saw that on the news and couldn't resist giving my thoughts. It is just too humorous and ironical to pass up. If you want to read the article from which I quoted, here it is:

Okay. I have had my fun with the scrolling marquee. As previously noted my site is ... shall we just say pathetic. From this point on it will be taking a new direction, though, I don't believe it will be more frequently updated, yet a good direction nonetheless.
